(Repairs of Existing Courts)

PREPARATION -

Pavement shall be cleaned with power blowers to insure that all debris and foreign matter is properly removed. Ridges and imperfections shall be scraped smooth. All heavily soiled or mildew areas shall be cleaned with water and bleach. With appropriate cleaning procedures this can warrant that proper bonding will be achieved with the application of the color coat system. Includes pressure washing of the court surface where needed.

CRACK REPAIR -

Prior to the installation of crack sealer all cracks shall be cleaned to a depth of approximately one inch. All cracks 1/4 inch wide or smaller shall be sealed with Nova Caulk Crack Sealant. Cracks over 1/4 of an inch shall be sealed with Plexipave Court Patch Binder.

100 lbs. 60-80 Mesh Silica Sand (dry)
3 gallons Court Patch Binder
1 to 2 gallons Portland Cement (dry)

 LEVELING "BIRD BATHS" -

"Bird Baths" or minor depressions shall be located by flooding the courts with water or after a personal inspection of the courts after a rainfall occurs.

Depressions measuring over 3/16 of an inch shall be leveled with Plexipave Court Patch Binder with special attention being paid to the playing areas.

REMOVAL OF LOOSE EXSISTING COLOR -

Existing color that is peeling shall be scraped loose. The area shall then be cleaned and patched with Acrylic Resurfacer. All repaired areas shall be blended in with existing surface areas.

 ACRYLIC RESURFACER-

After the completion of all repairs, an application of Acrylic Resurfacer shall be applied to the repaired areas in preparation of the new color system. The entire court surface shall than receive 2- coats of acrylic resurfacer, to fill in the small shrinkage cracks, and other imperfections.

Coverage             (.05-.07 gals/sq. yd.) per coat. Undiluted material.

APPICATION OF COLOR COAT SYSTEM-

A mineral filled acrylic coating called Fortified Plexipave shall be applied with rubber squeegees which provides a colorful and uniform surface texture. Plexipave is an acrylic latex coating made from pure, inert color that forms a tough but flexible finish that expands and contracts with the pavement as the temperature changes occur. Two coats of fortified Plexipave color shall be applied to the entire surface. Colors shall be chosen by the owner.

Colorcoat mixture.
55 gallons of Colorcoat
350-450 lbs. 70-100 mesh silica sand
30-40 gallons of clean water.

Coverage (.04-.05 gals/sq. yd.) per coat. Undiluted material. 

STRIPING-

All layouts shall be done according to the U.S. Tennis and Track Association Specifications. All lines shall be masked and sealed prior to painting, to insure straight and uniform lines. Plexipave Texture Line Paint shall be used in the repainting of the lines which provides a professional appearance.
