Scope of Work.
A. All site work, grading and construction within the limits of this project shall be done in accordance with the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction in Illinois. And all revisions thereto. tolerance + or - 1/10th
B Earth excavation shall include clearing, stripping and removing materials from Construction site as needed for installation of the new court surfaces. This work shall be performed in accordance with applicable provisions of Section 200of the Illinois Department of Transportation Standard Specifications. All excess material shall be disposed of by the Contractor.
C. The Contractor shall use care in grading or excavating near any and all trees, shrubs, and bushes, which are not to be removed. Any damage done to these existing items, including grass areas. Shall be repaired by the Contractor at his own expense.
D. Unsuitable material encountered in excavating for pavement sub grades shall be removed and replaced with suitable materials to the limits approved by the Owner.
E. Unsuitable excavation is classified as excavation not capable of 3,000 psf. bearing capacity when compacted.
F. If unsuitable sub-base materials are present, as determined by the Contractor and Owner, within pavement areas, and if such sub-base material is not capable of meeting proof rolling requirements. The sub-base material shall be removed
1. The Contractor shall submit a unit price per cubic yard for undercutting sub-base This unit price shall be used for .determining the final cost of any undercutting that may be required. this unit cost shall include the cost of disposing the undercut material off-site at a location provided by the Contractor. And installation of 2" Limestone. (Based on final field verification.)
2. The Contractor shall also submit a unit price per square yard for supplying and installing pavement fabric (typar or Mirafri500x) This unit price shall be used for any placement of fabric if required by soil conditions.
G. The contractor shall have engaged in this type of work for a period of 5 years, and shall include a list of Courts completed during that period with their bid.

Paving & Surfacing
Scope of Work
A. All paving work shall be constructed in conformance with Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. By Illinois Department of Transportation.
B. The paving contractor shall proof roll the sub grade and base before pavement construction proceeds. The proof rolling shall be done by a rubber tired vehicle having a gross weight of not less than 30,000 pounds.

Bituminous pavement Binder 1.5"
Bituminous pavement Surface 1.5"
D. Base course of CA-6 Stone shall be installed over the sub grade. In no case shall the thickness be less than eight inches (8") of thoroughly Compacted material. This material shall be spread in a manor to meet tolerances specified hear in. The material shall be compacted with a steel wheel roller weighing not less than (8) tons. Surface tolerance shall be1.25" in 10 feet.
E. Prime Base Course.
F. Bituminous Binder 1.5" of binder shall be installed over primed base course. The hot Bituminous concrete shall be spread with a mechanical spreader of the self power type having a floating screed assembly. The use of road graders or towed spreaders will not be allowed. The mix as thus spread shall be thoroughly compacted by a roller weighing not less than two tons. The finished surface of the binder shall not vary more than 3/8"in ten feet and have a compacted thickness of not less than 1.5 inches.
G. Bituminous Surface. A surface course of bituminous concrete having a maximum aggregate size of 3/8 inches shall be installed with a mechanical spreader having a compacted thickness of not less than1.5 inches. The mix shall be thoroughly compacted to 95% or more of the density (ASTM F2726) . The surface course shall not vary more than 3/16 inch in ten feet when measured in any direction.
H. Final surface Inspection : Prior to the application of a color finish system the court shall be flooded with water and allowed to drain. Than if water covers a five cent piece in any area, that area shall be patched and leveled in accordance with recommendations of the manufacturer of the color system.
I. Slope requirement: All excavating, filling, compacting, grading, and paving work required here in shall be performed so that the finished court surface slopes 1.25" in ten feet.

5-Coat Color System
Scope of Work
A. All materials used shall be from a manufacturer that has regularly engaged in the manufacturing of these products for a minimum of five years and must meet the product specifications attached. The manufacturer will provide written information to the owner that all products used are 100% acrylic latex systems. ( no vinyl or vinyl combination systems) and are free of asbestos fillers. If other than the standard specified, the contractor shall submit at least four (4) days prior to the bid date, at his own expense, a complete typewritten list of all such proposed substitutions together with sufficient data, drawings, samples, literature and other detailed information as will demonstrate to the satisfaction of the owner that the proposed substitute material is equal in quality or utility to that original specified. If the owner considers tests necessary to determine the quality such test shall be made at the expensive of the contractor. The all-weather surfacing materials specified herein are products of California Products Corporation, 169 Waverly Street, Cambridge, Ma 02139 or an approved equal. Under no circumstances will a surfacing system comprised of several products produced or manufactured from different sources be considered.
B. Methods of Construction - The filler and finish courses shall be applied by squeegees and brooms. Mechanical spray equipment and spreaders will not be permitted. All materials will be delivered to the job site in their original unopened containers where they will be checked by the owner.
C. Application - A thorough cleaning of the surface by sweeping, vacuuming and air blowing should be done on all courts.1. In order to provide a smooth dense underlay for acrylic color courses, one (1) application of acrylic resurfacer shall be applied to the surface. No applications shall be covered by a succeeding application until thoroughly cured.2. Color Coats - Fortified Plexipave shall be applied by rubber squeegee on the clean dry surface in two applications to obtain a quantity of 60-90 gallons per 800 square yards prior to dilution. A dilution rate not to exceed one part water; two parts Plexipave. After application of Plexipave filler coat, one coat of Plexichrome finish shall be applied. No application until thoroughly cured. The diluted material shall be homogeneous. Segregation before or during applications will not be permitted. The finish surface shall have a uniform appearance and be free from ridges and tool marks.3. Playing Lines - Two (2) inch wide playing lines shall be accurately located, marked and painted with Plexicolor Line Paint as specified by U.S. Tennis Association. Lines shall be taped to assure razor sharp edges prior to painting. Two (2) coats of Plexicolor Line Paint shall be applied. Spraying of lines will not be accepted.
D. Net and Equipment - Post foundations shall not be less than (18") in diameter at the top, not less than (30") in diameter at the bottom, and not less than (42") in depth. Foundations shall be so situated as to provide a clear distance between post of (42') on double courts. Concrete for foundations shall attain a compressive strength of not less than (3,500) pounds per square inch at the (28th) day after pouring. Foundations shall be so designed and poured and the posts so set as not to cause cracking or other damage to the finished court surface. Net posts shall be Douglas DTP 37. Posts shall be set plumb and true so as to support the net at a height of (42") above the court surface. A center strap anchor shall be positioned and set in concrete footings measuring (12"x12"x12").
A tennis net measuring (42') long and (31/4') wide and other- wise conforming to regulations of the United States Tennis Association shall be provided for each court.
E. Fencing- Install a 10 foot high perimeter fencing system with (2) service gates following specifications for newly constructed tennis court.
Terminal Posts - are to be (3) inches O.D. SS40 pipe.
Line Posts - are to be (21/2") O.D. SS40 pipe set no more than (10) ft. apart.
Top Rail and Mid Rail - to be (15/8") O.D. SS40 pipe.
Bottom Tension Wire - to be 7 gauge galvanized coil spring type.
Fabric - will be 2x9x120" galvanized.
Posts - to be set 36" deep in a 12" D. core of concrete.
Service Gate - will be 7 feet high by 3 1/2 feet wide with a 2 1/2 foot transom.
All posts and rails shall be galvanized.
F. Guarantee - The Contractor shall guarantee all workmanship and materials for a period of one (1) year, save normal wear and tear.
